The department of surgery provides a high quality care for patients, in an elective or emergency setting. It is well recogniz ed, not only across Switzerland but also on an international level, as a center of reference in several areas and surgical specialties, including the division of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.
One of the main focus of the plastic surgery division is to ensure a high quality reconstruction of various tissue defects following trauma, tumor excision (breast and ENT in particular), serious infections or radiotherapy sequelae.
Since the division’s foundation, craniofacial reconstructive surgery has been one of the fundamental areas of expertise with indications that range from pediatric congenital deformities to scleroderma, facial paralysis, von Recklinghausen disease or facial reconstructive surgery of NOMA sequelae. As part of this expertise, humanitarian missions in various African countries are regularly organized as well as a substantial number of patient transfers in order to offer the most optimal care possible.
General plastic surgery is the backbone of the overall activity consisting of breast, thoracic or abdominal procedures, as well as body contouring following major weight loss (e.g. bariatric surgery). Finally, the division holds a special interest in cosme tic surgery with a particular focus on face, breast and body lift procedures.
In this function you will assist the Head of division in supervision and management of the team and also provide stationary and outpatient care for patients.
As staff physician, your mission includes training and supervision of senior residents, residents as well as medical students. You will take an active part in the training of nursing staff as well as in the under and postgraduate training of the division.
You will also be asked to take an active part in the different research activities of the division.
EDUCATION AND SKILLS
Candidate must hold a Federal Diploma of Medicine or equivalent level recognized by MEBEKO and a title of specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.
It is essential to be in possession of a licence to practice medicine in the Canton of Geneva (droit de pratique) before taking office. For non-French speaking candidates, C1 level of written and oral French is required.
Expertise in reconstructive microsurgery particularly in the field of breast reconstruction and reconstruction of head and neck area is required. Candidate should be capable to independently manage patients who are candidates for free flap reconstructions.
Candidate must also demonstrate extended experience and good skills in facial and general plastic surgery as well as in the field of research, with a strong academic profile.
An experience in management is necessary.
